Kepler 22b confirmed in habitable zone

diablojoy

the planet Kepler 22b has been recently confirmed as being in the middle
of the habitable zone of its parent star
its only 600 light years away
planet size is 2.4 x the size of earth
its actual mass has yet to be determined as is its make up
still i think this is an important milestone
there are now 48 possible planets within habitable zones of stars
detected by Kepler but this is the first one to be confirmed
by ground based observation.
orbital period = 289 days
star is slightly smaller than our sun and slightly cooler
so keppler 22b orbits a little closer to its star
