Hi,

Does anyone know if it´s possible to run a MOFOS Minisynth with 12 volt?
The PCB say 9 volt...

Cheers.

Hi I just bought a Mini Synth and I was wondering if it can be powered with 9V or 12DC?

Hello and welcome,

the soundlab mini-synth requires a bi polar power supply (positive as well as negative voltage rails), and should work with a range of voltages from +/- 9 volts to +/- 15 volts or so. Ray has pretty great documentation on the MFOS site, including information on how to hook it up with either a bi polar power supply or two 9 volt batteries. Feel free to ask about anything that is not clear, and enjoy the mini-synth. Smile

I built the Wall Wart circuit that transform 9V AC into +9V/-9V DC (bipolar).
I now need the Wall Wart that Output 9VAC(or 12VAC), this is quite uncommon in France, I just found that one below on Mouser. It seems correct but I'd be glad to have a confirmation

Thanks in advance Wink .

Soundlab works with 9 or 12 v. It works even smaller voltages, but it start to behave quite sragely. I tested something like 8v and it was fun.But basically i prefer 9v, because it sounds just better.

the SL is actually better with +/- 12V
the filter has a greater range for example

I trust my ears in this case. But of course you are right. End of all it is mater of taste. Sometimes technically best is not best sounding like tb 303 witch sound is based on a kind faulty circuit.

Hi thank you for your comments.

I finally chose to use a 12V AC adapter and it works great.
I'll try 9 someday see if the difference please my ears as for you otcx.
I agree as a Sherman Filterbank user sometimes a less regular sound sometimes does it better.

I also realize that I can 2 synth for the price of 1 + 2 adapter Smile.

I recently plugged it with silentway's vst plugs to control in cv/gate, it works great, so much possibilities.
