I got myself out of bed just now as I was falling asleep to share this with you all, before I forget all about it, as I think this is the right crowd to appreciate it.

Last night I had a dream in which I was performing a concert. The stage was on a waterfront of some kind. My station was a circular enclosure in which I could move freely. I was completely enclosed. The enclosure was both opaque and translucent (you know how it is in dreams) and was higher than my head. The inner surface consisted of small white rectangles lit evenly from behind. The whole thing was a control device played by touching the white rectangles.

That's the technical stuff I thought you'd find interesting. It'd be really fun to actually have such a device.

The not-so-technical aspects of my dream: The song I was performing was a loud, rocking version of Depeche Mode's "My Secret Garden". I was reaching up and playing the finale on the white rectangles. I just somehow knew what to do without knowing what I was doing. The audience was a vague, unseen, but large crowd. Right at the end, fireworks started over the waterfront and I stuck my head out of my enclosure (somehow through the enclosure - not a window or opening) to watch and announced into an invisible mic "thank you, everyone", which reverberated over that unseen large audience.

Anyway, I thought it was a pretty cool synth dream. Maybe a way of telling myself to get cracking, as I've been dicking around with my computers for a while trying to get rid of Windows. Razz

I think the possibilities of the synth's abilities of control, have been well within our reach, since the Theremin had been invented. Smile
Just figure out how to individually address a Theremin type sensor for your hand movements in the X, Y, Z around the receptor and only within a limited range of that cubular sensor. That - would give you 3 +/- axii parameters to send out to the synth being controlled. Smile

Now - as to your head passing through the 'energy shield' that your dreamt performance unit were inside ... that one's a little bit tougher. Surprised Laughing
