A short gig report... |

|
That was a great experience! Thanks Bill, for letting me sit in. It was also the first time I was in the DIY building. Great setup.
Fortunately, I had the opportunity to hear 3 beautiful compositions, ranging from melodic space rock to slightly more glitchy electronica by the end. Bernhard handled synth and drum programming. His style was very melodic and reserved but he did throw in the occasional sonic curve ball. Some sharp key hits and a bit of dissonance here and there. Nothing was mic’d so they could talk to each other and give direction as to where the composition would go, while they were recording. And I was able to pick up a few German words that sounded familiar. Markus’ guitar sat higher in the mix and he created these nice extended loops, stopping to solo overtop. Then he’d do some tweaking and break those loops down into noisier fragments.
And really, those dreamy soundscapes DID sound decidedly ‘German’. Some tonal/stylistic quality I can’t quite put my finger on. Yet their music would fit nicely on the Audio Dregs label or Carpark, touring with Greg Davis and Lullatone.
Fascinating music from some nice guys! Too bad they weren’t able to play Philly or NYC before going back home. Count me in as a fan. _________________ "Pop music is for sheep and we are wolves disguised as shepherds." |
