hey there!

i'm trying to abuse chuck for non-realtime tasks. i want to fft a wav file, do some freaky stuff, ifft it again and save the result as wav to the disk + play it.

problem with this is that fft seems to only accept incoming samples being chucked realtime from sndbuf.
any chance to upchuck sndbuf's whole content to a uana like fft?

thanks,
fabb

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do, wouldn't the "--silent" flag, do? "--silent" makes ChucK calculate as fast as it can, regardless of real time, this can be a good way to calculate stuff very quickly or it can be a method to generate audio that would otherwise take too much power for your CPU.

Hmmm, I'm not sure how the Mini would work with the silent flag, Starting a VM with "--loop --silent" will do nothing, as fast as possible, leading to 100% CPU usage for indeterminate amounts of time.

Maybe we need a interface for that, some way of expressing we only want the VM to run in silent mode in the Mini for as long as it takes to render/calculate our code. I'm not sure what that would look like; I use the comandline version when I need to render.

no problem for me to use the commandline for this purpose here.
