I'm pretty sure that's not possible, as if it is slower it must take longer, unless you somehow remove parts to make it shorter!
What did you want to achieve, in case that helps me think of something? _________________ Jez

I was .. well when it was just one thing and played .. or automated .. it could be done anew and slower .. but I had a mix of recorded sounds that I wanted to be slower .. and that would be a lot of work.
The drawback of "tape editing" .. ultimately flexible in what you can do .. but not so much in what you can undo .. unless you back up every detail .. which I did not .. basically because that results in lots of audio files. And it would still be a lot of work to redo everything.
I wanted a lazy way out .. and in the end just accepted how it was .. which was a lazy way out .. of course :)
My idea maybe was to take tiny snapshots of a track .. then leave out .. say half of them .. and then slow those left over down so they get twice as long .. and then glue them back together.
And then maybe when that is not in sync with the "beat" oe whatever sequence of events.
Hmm i think i could actually try that ... in a different way/order .. but .. I do have a VST that can make holes in a track .. then I can stretch the track .. and finally remove the silence .. which my wave editor can do automaticly.
I'll have to keep this unread .. to keep it out of my head .. in my head ..
[ As .. now busy with some other things .. hero wouters and bianca holst seem to have a lot of nice stuff : https://www.youtube.com/@herowouters/videos .. I was looking for "overbodige muziek" (superfluous music) :) ]
Hmm .. ok . .we go from start trough mid to finish ...
it works not very well
i had to cheat a bit . .silence removal did not work well .. it cut it down to 20% or so instead of 50%
edit: still it sort of .. may begin .. to illustrate .. an onset .. to what -- maybe .. could be achieved
I tried some other settings and things .. very very fiddly
edit2 : the chop frequency matters a lot .. this was dome at 17Hz ``(and with a duty cycle of 50%) . when it is too fast it will just detoriate quality.

This is a really interesting idea/ concept
The final sound reminds me of what you get from Paulstretch, it's probably a similar approach to do extreme time stretching, but that adds extra bits rather than takes them away _________________ Jez

It's funny actually as I have a vague memory of wanting to use Paulstretch to shrink a long piece into a short one just for fun, but I don't think I ever got round to it, maybe I should give it a go
