Music should be free!

See me put my money where my mouth is. If you are interested in an alternative take on styles as diverse as jazz, electro, post-prog, ambient, punk, orchestral, and blues tinged contemporary rock (sometimes in the same song!) please check out my site at

www.periurban.com

Feel free to download as much as you like. It’s all mine and I’m giving it to you for nothing!

All I ask is that you let me know what you think of my stuff, either by reporting back here or by leaving a message on my guestbook (accessed via the Temple at www.periurban.com/page17.html).

Thanks everyone!

Go into the record shop and slect one of the titles. That'll take you to a page where you can download tracks.

OK, that works. Lots of stuff. Many different styles. Excellent.

Thanks for taking a look. It's the "many different styles" bit that I've always had trouble with.

Here I am on a board devoted to electro music, but I'm also on boards that are devoted to rock and blues! I just don't know how to promote or describe what I do.

Whenever someone asks me what kind of music I do I can't tell them, because last week it was an orchestral thing, and this week it's weird electronic stuff, and next week it'll be bluesey rock.

Help!

Is it OK to bump this?

I don't mind an occasional bump. Nobody has complained about it so far.

I like playing many different styles myself. Making the music and promoting it are two separate things.

Back in the 70s I did a bi-weekly radio program on KPFA in the Bay Area. The show was called Thin Aire. It was very eclectic. I'd play bluegrass, avant garde, classical, Bulgarian folk music, electronic music and anything else that I liked. I used to get lots of calls. Most were complaints. Some people who love classical music thing bluegrass is horrible. I can't relate to these people, but I understand they exist and why radio shows focus on single styles of music. So, if you write music it 5 styles and you want to promote it, then you probably have to promote is in 5 different ways. Sounds like that's what you are doing anyway.

This is a pretty eclectic community, if you haven't noticed. Very Happy

Mosc.

I know what you mean. If it's hard to promote your stuff anyway, incorporating diversity makes it doubly so. I was once advised by an A&R man to decide what it was I wanted to do, because he couldn't think of a way to promote an artist who wanted to do 3 minute pop songs and 25 minute instrumentals!

Anyway, here i am, doing what I want to do, and doing it when I want to do it. So it worked out not too bad.

Of course, I'll never be as famous or successful as Pink Floyd, but I can live with that...

lol
