I found this rather interesting. The Remote 25 with audio in, outs, and effects. Now it is packaged with Vsynth, Live and a version of Cubase. Is this the way hardware will go for some manufacturers? I also noticed that Novation has a new location. Were they bought or did they just move?

Nope, this is not the way it will go. I expect a new bunch of VA gear from various vendors .. cheap and good. Softsynths are great, but in many ways using a computer as the host is not that effiecent or smart. hardware synths will be around for many years to come. The next big innovation will probably be better UI.

Another thing is DSP prices and CPU prices. Very soon we will have available processing power which will be far beyond what would be ever needed for building something like a "simple" VA synth which emulates every keyboard made by ARP ever.. and then throw Moog.. at the same time. Obviously the next thing to solve is better interfaces and more extensive effects. Quite probably we might see a lot of mLan instrumets soon.. or instruments with similar protocols.
