Reverently Revolving, little help? |

Respect, Peace, and Love,
New to the site, rockin the G4, looking for some advice on some new to come purchases. My goal is to make background beats/loops for my voice that don't sound like they came out of an atari. I got the first step, the powerbook. Now I am looking for advice on software. I am torn between ableton, reason, pro-tools, and any other suggestion I have not entertained. Considering buying some Roland V-Drums, but not sure if they are necessary. I will probably need a keyboard/mic set up too. Looking to get the most bang for the buck. I play the drums, and the guitar. Looking to do a little Hip Hop/Cuban/Reggae/Bluegrass fusion. Ive got the songs playing in my head, but cant get them out..dig?
Keep in mind, I am not new to music or computers, but new to the fusion of the two...all ego aside, I got no frickin Idea what I'm doing. I am viewing the computer as a new instrument to learn how to play.
Little help?

There are many mac users here. I suggest you post some questions in the How To´s´forum. I am sure we will be able to help you out.

Welcome, Rev. You are on a long and windy road. I think you can do all that you want with your PowerBook if you are careful and get the right stuff, and not too much of it. Most people get too much stuff and don't master any of it. I don't use the Mac for music myself, but there are people here who do.
Welcome aboard and have a wonderful journey. _________________ --Howard

Reverently Revolving, sends a gift to all |

Thank you both for your responses, I will most definitely post in the "how to forum"...but for now, I just wrote a poem yesterday that you may enjoy. Let it be my gift dedicated to all who walk the artists path with good intention, and grow together along the way.
One Seed
Yellow leaves fall to the ground like eyelashes to a cheek.
Wishes floating on God's breath, intended for the week.
The green path of the future remains suspended above.
Below fades to brown, new soil, the Mother's love.
Plant your seed in this fertile future,
Let good intention be your Sun.
Grow strong in its light,
Your path has room for only 1
You may grow alongside others,
and bend together in God's breath.
But you are one seed on one leaf,
one life, and one death.
Love and Respect
