New York/New Jersey musician/visual artist... |
 |
|
As the subject indicates, I'm an artist, and I happen to be from the New York/New Jersey area.
My main interests musically are in what I guess is called "IDM" or "glitch" music. I'm very inspired by generative music, computer programming, synth programming, and "Autechre". I'm more of a "sound designer" than a "musician" but really I just enjoy sounds and sonic textures. Most of those sounds come from my Nord Modulars (G1 and G2), as well as some other VA's and old digital synths/samplers.
As for visual arts, I am very interested in generative art, architecture, geometry, serial work, minimalism, 3D animation, etc etc. Most of my work is computer based/generated, aside from some sculptural pieces. I work mainly with video/animation, but have done some print. I've also done a few "music videos" and sound design for short films and art installations.
The point of all of this is really because I have NO contact with artists with-in this "genre". I am in New York City almost daily and I don't know anyone who is interested in ANY of this kind of work. I'm kind of going out on a limb here and hoping some local artists will reply, as I really want to get to know the local community for this sort of thing. If for nothing else but to just exchange ideas and talk, but I'd ideally like to work with other artists and musicians on larger projects, sessions, etc.
if your interested in generative art/music, "IDM", experimental electronic music, experimental art, installation work, experimental video, 3D animation, or whatever, or want to know more about it, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks for reading this damn long post,
Domenic.

hi Domenic
i used to live in jersey - a long time ago so that probably doesn't count for much in terms of what you are looking for
but your comment...

is what really caught my eye. that's where i'm at & that's what I look for.
found your page at soundclick (i've got three there & three stations) and am trying to wrestle with their new flash player to stream your tracks as i write this. Bruise the Air is cool - might add it to The Other Shore. will keep listening - i;m not always really hot on idm - liked NSMS though.
you might want to check out ocp at soundclick;

check out his home page too & there's some links to videos from there.
he's from portugal - no closer than i am but i thought you guys might share some asudio/visual affinities. _________________ Que la musique sonne - Edgard Varese

to electro-music.com, great to have you here.
I'm from Allentown, PA. I get into NYC several times a month to go to concerts or for this or that. Most of EM music scene I'm involved with seems to be associated with Philly for some reason.
Anyway, I'm not a visual artist, and I approach sound design from a musician's perspective. Still, I hope we can link up sometime. I'm always looking for collaborators. I'll try to check out your online music when I get a chance.
Anyhow, welcome aboard. _________________ --Howard

Hi Domenic !
Wow!
I've got to see and hear your creations,
I've got a faster hook-up at my day-job (*yawn*)
so I'll be scoping you out at lunch-time.
This is my very first visit to this site.
Sounds like we got a lot in common,
and I hope we can learn from each other.
Good Luck!

Dom !!
*sheez* man, your music is definitely immersive !
I can imagine walking around in virtual worlds,
a different world for each of the compositions at the www you linked to.
Better yet, a pitch-black room for a few hours would be nice.
Fascinating stuff, my friend.
I noticed from the profile at your myspace site
that you would consider collaboration.
I bounce some ideas off ya in an e-mail or PM soon. _________________ I need more space ! |
