As of version 2022.1.5.0 32 bit versions are no longer supported.

The changelog: https://bluehell.nl/blogje/
The help: https://bluehell.nl/wren/wiki/

Wren version 2022.3.28.0 or later makes use of an istaller - updates can be done from Wren itself.

Wren version 2025.4.10.0 or later also publishes a simple zip file again for manual installation.

Very nice, thanks!

Are there near-term plans for alternate knob control modes (via the mouse), e.g., vertical and horizontal in addition to circular?

blue hell · Posted: Tue Feb 25, 2014 12:47 pm Post subject:

Ok, I will consider that, it never occurred to me people actually use that Shocked

In fact I just added the modes which was half an hour of work or so, but will have to mess a bit to make it usable ... which is not trivial it seems ... and will have to check if the mode is always set over all knobs .. with adding modules & such.

Understood! Laughing

Thanks.

It was not trivial indeed ... update posted to https://bluehell.nl/wren/

Not quite what I'd want, but workable I think.

New version 2014.3.9.0

Added a couple of modules mainly and a search function.

The new modules are : Rectifier, MinMax, Integrator/Differentiator, MIDI note receiver, MIDI CC receiver, MIDI note transmitter, MIDI CC transmitter.

The MIDI modules work with MIDI over TCP, and this needs support by an external program. I made my netMIDI server available from my site, but the format used should be compatible with the MidiTangle program too.

http://bluehell.electro-music.com/wren/forums.html has some more info on this.

Bugfix - see first post in this topic.

blue hell · Posted: Fri Mar 28, 2014 3:17 pm Post subject:

Added stereo to wave players and there is a new 6x6 matrix mixer, chainable, and it has a control input for each knob.

Edit: there was an unintended dependency on my Led unit, providing the MIDI LEDs, I removed that one and made a new source code release. This does not really affect the program itself, some round LEDs are square now.

New version 2014.4.1.0 - see first post for all details. Fresh source code was posted for this as well.

The main new feature is the HrastOsc made by HrastProgrammer, this is an anti-aliased multi waveform oscillator. Thanks for that Hrast Cool

Interesting stuff Jan.

Can XE5 build it for OSX?

blue hell · Posted: Tue Apr 08, 2014 4:59 pm Post subject:

Yes it can .. but not this source code unfortunately .. it needs a different component set for that and then my code uses a lot of winapi stuff too.

Oh and I could not test it ... it wants 10.6 minimal, I have 10.5.8.

BobTheDog · Posted: Tue Apr 08, 2014 11:08 pm Post subject:

Ah, Ok.

I thought I was being optimistic Wink

New version uploaded .. quite some changes ...

Key items would be ... Hrast Filter added and old patches are incompatible, sorry for that, but had to do that to make the knobs work better.

Some modules got removed, but most became variations of new more general modules.

Hope I didn't introduce too many new bugs Rolling Eyes

Looks like quite an overhaul... And I like the new look. Smile

Now where did I put that spare time I set aside...

Some small bug fixes ...

blue hell · Posted: Mon May 05, 2014 5:04 pm Post subject:

And a couple more buggies killed in 2014.5.5.0 ... Bug squash

Also made the sample rate and buffer size configurable ... the synth needs to be stopped to change those, but even then it may crash later on,

Best to quit wren after a change there and then start it again.

It does sound better at higher sample rates and its less glitchy with larger buffer sizes, but the latter will add latency, and the first reduces the possible patch size.

New version ... added a couple of new modues and smoothed the envelopes a bit, less clicky now unless you want them to click.

Attached below is a demo featuring the formant and reverb modules, as well as the older HrastFilter.
