Need advice on first song! Subject description: Created my first song in fl studio, need advice... |
 |
|
I have created my first "song" in fl studio 11. I have uploaded it to soundcloud and would be really happy if you guys could listen to it and give me some advice (i'm sure you have alot of them) cause i obviously want to improve my skills (which there aren't alot of right now in the beginning...).
I haven't really done any mixing (just a little bit) and mastering. Maybe you could give me some advice on that too? U have any tips on mixing and mastering tutorials?
Is it too much with all the effects?
Have I used the EQ:s completely wrong?
Thanks

hey torritorri,
most important is, that you have fun and a good time. the tune has a better arrangement starting from 2:30 - so I like the second part more. in the first you could work out more the arrangement and how the elements are working / coming together, I guess ... just keep on producing.
mixing / mastering is a huge topic. "google" is your friend, feel free to check the "how to" section of this forum and on youtube you will find lots of videos as well.
I just asked my friend and found this page - should be a good starting point:
http://www.remix64.com/tutorials/faq-tut-digital-mastering.html
another tip: use a track u like as a reference track and try to get the mixing / mastering sounding like your reference - easy as it is!
all the best

Very good, especially for a first song. I suggest you spend as much time as you listening, and do as many songs as possible without letting your "critical self" slow you down. _________________ --Howard

I have remade my song and uploaded a new version. I would be really happy if you could listen to it and give me feedback on how you think it sounds now after i have remade it

I enjoyed it very much. It was a very "typical kind" of electronically produced tune, which I don't usually care for, but it was entertainingly atypical in the nature, frequency and timing of its changes.
In other words, I particularly like it because of the ways it deviates from the norm. It surprised me several times. I like that. Some of the surprises may have been the result of inexperience. I like that, too. Accidents can provide great material.
EDM enthusiasts will direct you toward greater conformity with the norm.
Most members of this forum will encourage you to do what you want to do. This gang is more into experimenting and exploring than rule-following. But then, I don't think any of us have any dance hits. _________________ AEJOTZ is pronounced "A-Jotz"
