The Swiss Army knife of MIDI |
 |
|
A friend and I have been talking about designing a new kind of midi interface. Here's what we're planning
- iPhone/iPad Android support
- MIDI over USB
- MIDI I/O
- CV/Trigger I/O
- Control outboard MIDI gear with USB devices (keyboard, trackpad, etc)
- Transform single notes into chords, octaves, and arp'd sequences
Would anyone be interested in something like this? |

Me!
I assume you're talking about some kind of hardware box? All those features sound interesting, if you can pull them off.

A HW box, exactly. The idea is to have a programmable, compact device that can replace some of the functionality that people use their computers for.
For me, I'd love to be able to plug in a numeric keypad and use it to change patches on my DS P08 which has a very live-unfriendly knob to select patches. |

All well and good to spew events over a network, but taking them back off the network has to work too. Would your widgets do this as well, meaning you need multiples of them, or would you have software to intervene, or would they work with existing protocols? _________________ Garret: It's so retro.
