Eagle Schematics Subject description: Bollocks! |
 |
|
I've always hated this! Having to work out the values of components when the font is so bad. Sometimes I just have to guess... it could be a 3 or a 5 or a 6 or a 8 or a 9! What sort of sh*t is that?
Seriously one of the worst pieces of design I have ever seen. Why is it that people are using this? Is it free or something? Surely there's a better option around... even hand drawing schematics and scanning. I bet the same people who use it are the same people who complain about Comic Sans...
Hmmm... just having a gripe...
EDIT: HOLY F*** it gets worse! They actually want money for it! There I was thinking it was something invented and freely distributed by neck beards... but no. They seem to want a load of money for it too. Not that I can work out their price list- it looks like a train timetable. Surely there has to be a better option than this! I'm astounded at how substandard this is! It's a ****ing average World isn't it? |

Hey, i like Eagle CAD. Yes I agree that it's not the most ideal of programs but it enables me to create hobby circuit boards with professional quality and for free at that!
They want you to pay for the product in the event that you use it for business purposes, which seems fair to me. The price is a bit steep I agree.
Anyway, venting is healthy so enjoy your rant!

hahaha
I completely forgot about this rant! Anyway, I emailed Eagle and received a reply from Jorge Garcia:
Could you send a screenshot? I personally haven't heard that complaint before and I'm concerned that maybe something went wrong with the installation.
EAGLE has three fonts: Proportional,Vector, Fixed. Proportional is the nicer looking one out of the three and it's the font normally used on the schematic. Vector is used on the board layout, and it has to be because that is the only font supported by the Gerber format.
If you see some inconsistency on the schematic with the font and sizes you can run the normalize-text.ulp included with EAGLE to clean things up.
...so I sent Jorge the screenshots and he had this to say:
That's the normal proportional font of EAGLE. Let me ask, do you always
receive schematics like this? These images are very fuzzy, and darn near
unreadable.
As a suggestion why don't you just download the freeware, and use that
as a viewer for the EAGLE schematics that way you don't have to use
these low resolution images.
It's free, so there's nothing for you to lose.
Thanks for your input.
I guess I was just having one of THOSE days... . Anyway, thanks Jorge, and thanks to you guys for the suggestions. |
