I like this tune a lot. Very chilled, lots of feeling. Actually really reminds me of a lot of music by Moby.
Only think I don't like is the crashy drums. I think more elegant drums would suit this piece better.
It took so long to download from your site, I've decided to host it myself for a bit to allow others to listen to it without draining their patience:

Nice track. I like the beginning the best. When the drums came you lost me - it was very distracting and totally changed the mood. _________________ --Howard

Dovdimus, way to have his back, man!
I personally like the drums, I'm a sucker for beauty and distortion together. _________________ www.avanvranken.com |

Dovdimus thanks for hosting our track.
I'm glad that you as well as mosc and a.vanvranken liked the track.
Concerning drums: yes, they are a bit tough, but in our vision it makes track more expressive even more agressive but still it doesn't hurt the main idea of the track.
One more question: what can you tell about technical side of the track. I mean how does it sound in technical way (maybe there is a need to correct some frequencies or smth else) |

I listened again. I dig the drums now more.
From a technical side, I'd like to here some long term changes on these tracks to enhance the listen. Maybe some very slow phase shifters, changes of eq, slow changing comb filters, or something like that. Some subtile volume changes might help too. _________________ --Howard

Hmmm. Technical side eh? [Scratches chin and kicks the tires.]
Mosc talks about 'enhancing the listen' and I think I can see where he's coming from. Basically you're just listening to two alternating chords over the same arpeggio the whole way through and that makes it hard to keep it interesting. Mosc recommends using modulations [whoops! I mean in the sense of continuous changing of sound parameters, rather than key changes] to provide the interest. That's definitely one thing to consider.
I wouldn't like to hear any other chords or changes of key etc being introduced as this is one of those tracks that's about maintaining a groove.
What I would quite like to hear is the addition of more parts, maybe resulting in a bit of spicy dissonance, in a stepwise fashion to increase the complexity and intensity of the track into a big fat orgasm of sound. Hurray!
In terms of the drums, I think they would sound better with clearer 16-part quantization (e.g. 4 hats per beat) and some nice phasing to really hear some movement there.
The production, i.e. the levels of the parts, EQ, reverb etc etc is absolutely spot on as far as I am concerned. The sounds are very beautiful.
There you go, my 2 pennies. _________________ This message was brought to you from Beyond The Grave. |
