Battery contacts designed based on InstaLoad™ technology enable users to insert batteries into a device in either + or - direction and the device simply works. Users do not have to search for a hard to read diagram to determine how to insert the batteries.

Now, THIS is a great idea!!

Uhhh ... wouldn't that require nothing more than a full wave bridge rectifier? Embarrassingly low tech ... but I guess it's the thought that counts Laughing

it would need two rectifier bridges ... those would drop some of the precious 1.5 V too ... so probably they made something smarter.

No! No, no, no, no, no!

I'm completely against anything that encourages even MORE stupidity and the demise of intelligence in homo sapiens.

LEARN TO PUT THE FRICKING BATTERIES IN CORRECTLY!

If you can't do it, step away from the battery. Slowly.

FFS, if you can't figure out the + and - ends of a battery, you probably should not be allowed to live alone.

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

What's next, allowing people to put batteries in at what would normally be the incorrect angle (90 degrees to the contacts) because they don't know what contacts are? How about just showing the batteries to the mouse and the mouse eats them?

I'm going to launch a toothbrush with a brush at each end of the handle. Same idea for matches. Next up are refrigerator doors that can be opened both to the left and right, as well as up and down. There are endless opportunities ahead Very Happy

You mean a single full-wave bridge would not do it

But yea the likely 0.7V drop would be a problem when the supply is only 1.5v[/url]

Computer monitors that work on both sides. Televisions that can be watched from any room in the house - without moving them or piping the video around. Cell phones that can be held upside down or backwards.

How about some audio gear? Speakers that sound great no matter where you place them. Mixers that magically create "the perfect mix" for you. Synthesizers that give you their opinions - whether you want them or not (I think we already have some of those). Patch cables that extend or shorten to the correct length (actually, this would be extremely practical). Headphones that adapt to the wearer and refuse to go to a level of loudness harmful to that wearer (again, actually practical).

Hm... sounds like the "it just works" approach would be practical for audio without being damaging to intelligence.

One for each battery to support the four permutations of two .. you found a cheaper way to do it?

Hang on....

A bridge rectifier only works on AC?

You would need two- and even then it wouldn't work! Laughing

Ermm .. no ..

Laughing or consider the battery to be rotating very slowly.

Nope, one per slowly rotating battery it is. Wink

It comes from relying on those easy-to-use Macs Twisted Evil

There would be no 1.5V diode drop if you used my MOSFET based rectifier. But who gives a damn about my inventions anyway?

Here is the MOSFET bridge rectifier that would be perfect for this application.

I can tell you this, and I'm not gonna tell you much more than this, but the amount of hoops and loops and red tape I have had to deal with over the last 16 weeks or so, working within Xcode and using an SCM repository within an svnX Server, has been pure hell. If you really think that an Apple is an easy-to-use alternative, then you really need your head testing!

No offence. Twisted Evil Exclamation Very Happy Laughing Crying or Very sad

It looked like a mechanical design to me, with + and - terminals at both ends, concentric. My MOSFET bridge would work with existing batteries and would not require any special contacts - well, it would require a tap at each contact, but that's no big deal.
