Worried about my CT results Subject description: And now I'm scheduled for an MRI |
 |
|
I had a CT recently and the doctor's office just informed me that they found an "artifact" and would like to do an MRI to try to see it better.
Do I need to be concerned? Last edited by nobody on Fri Jun 25, 2010 1:34 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I have had an 'artifact' on one of my lungs before, it worried the hell out of me until I had more tests which then showed nothing. I was then told the original 'artifact' was probably just an error in the original xray.
Hopefully your 'artifact' is the same, best to have it checked up though. |

Wait with the worrying until you know what to worry about, I'd say. Easier said than done, perhaps. Make a song about it?

Thanks for the reassurances, guys. I've always taken good care of myself (except for being abused by my ex for six years), so I'm at a loss for theories anyway.
A song... hm...
*Put a lesion in my brain
To take away the pain
So all the tumours I known
Will be erased*
I was just told by the nurse that it's a "small lesion of decreased attenuation" which they want to look closer at with an MRI. I know attention in the audio world, but not in the medical world. "Decreased attenuation" sounds like it's being ever more slowly weakened. Which I don't quite get. |

| Thanks, pyro. I hope it'll turn out to be nothing, too. |

That probably means there's a part that they can't see clearly. So they have to investigate further.
Doing extra tests gives them several advantages. 1: money. 2: colleagues respect and patient's reassurance ("we've done all we can to be certain") 3: prevention of being sued in the REMOTEST chance shit happens and there's a serious condition in the exact spot they can't judge clearly now.
I'd say, very, very, VERY likely you're safe. |

Thanks, electri. My gut feeling says there's nothing seriously wrong.
Still like to know why I get these headaches, but they're probably tension-related and possibly weather-related. |

Hmm.. I guess you weren't or aren't a smoker. I lost my best friend to cigarettes. When I think about my lungs and the flogging I gave them, I get worried even without a doctor telling me there's something they have picked up on xray. Thankfully I ceased the weed habit and now the cigarettes too. Perhaps by the year 2050 my lungs may have recovered!
And abuse by your ex eh? Well that's one I know about and can relate to very well!!! I was in that situation for about 15 years! It's funny, you see these "stop domestic violence against women" stickers on cars, but no one stops to think it may be happening to men too!
Hope the medical is a false alarm. I expect it may not be anything serious...
but I understand the worry! |

You are in my thoughts. Hope that everything is ok.
Should you worry? Well, probably not. After all, to worry won't improve things.
All the best! _________________ -- Kevin

Not to belittle domestic violence against women, but this annoys me too. I can tell a lot of people don't quite take it seriously when the woman is the abuser. I'm awaiting a hearing date for social security so I can contest that I'm not at fault for an overpayment that's causing money to be withheld from my check, due to the abuse I received. I don't know what I'll do if the judge simply doesn't believe me, but I'm certainly not going to let it drop. I ain't lyin'. I also don't shirk my responsibilities. If I did something wrong, I own it. But in this case, I didn't. I didn't, in my own right mind, decide to accept social security while I was working. Long story short, my ex had me so messed up in the head and constantly on the verge of breakdown over her somehow causing me to lose jobs that I kept receiving social security as a safety net. Said net came in handy as my fears were justified, but this is not something I'd do in my right mind. It's wrong.
Anyway, thanks, Kevin and minus, for your kind words. |

Social Security can be difficult at times. My 18 year old son who lives with me has recently had his allowance cancelled. This puts us behind in bills when they F*[k around like this. It's not as if anyone on Social Security is stashing money away or something. We live from week to week, and all the supposed 'hand outs' we get are instantly put back into the community in which we live. With unemployment in my town being the highest in the state, if not the country, it is our government checks which are keeping businesses afloat! Yet they are always crapping on about 'mutual obligation' and 'work for the dole'. I have to go in with my son and deal with them on monday! I hope your involvement with them works out....
On a happier note: I received your CD in the mail today!!! THANKS HEAPS! First time in years anyone has sent me anything! I like the youtube video too! I'll send you something in return in the mail next week... when I receive my 'government welfare'! Ha ha! Keep up the great music! Cheers! |

Best of luck with so-called security, minus. I think they need to be federally investigated for mismanagement. My case should be OK. I just need to convince the judge to cancel the overpayment. I'm not likely to ever work again, the way things are going in this country. The worst that can happen is the judge doesn't agree and things continue as they are - which is really not bad, just annoying because I didn't put myself here. Resistance is useful!
I'm so glad you like the CD. I look forward to hearing what you send me! |
