Please: i need sync for the Mahkato |

Hello,
i REALLY need a sync circuit for the Mahkato VCF!
Pleeeeeaaaaaase !
I need sync !
i do things with the mahkato, no other module can do.
there is no competitor out there.
the mahkato is every minute and efford worth to get there a sync inside !
( i cannot, i'm an electronics idiot )
PLEASE !

so it's no theme here, i guess.
but who needs sync when only filtering ?
on the other side: who needs the mahkato as a Filter ? |

I think this might be difficult. Regular oscillators work around charging/discharging a capacitor. Sync is simply resetting to zero (or in some cases, reversing) the charge.
The Mahkato oscillates due to feedback around the filter and I don't think there is any single point that would allow the waveform to be reset. I could be wrong though.
You can get sync-like effects using a wave wrapper maybe? |

Hello All,
Ian-s got it right. This circuit is an oscillator when fed back, not a function generator, so sync is not a viable option.
Incidentally, the misspelling of its name here is a treat. I'm from Mankato (hence the name of the project), but our town was actually named after a Dakota Indian who lived here in the mid-1800s.
His name? Mahkato.
The name got corrupted to the current spelling.

so you mean there is no way ?
i was afraid it could be so.
Thomas, if you see any chance, please try.
the mahkato is VERY special !!!

haha, no missspelling here
some friends figured out the story behind the word Mankato.
They surched when they built theyr Modules ( it was serenadi and master of circles from germany)
so i use the term Mahkato in respect to the american Natives and the history.
I'm very deep aligned ( or associated) with that folk ( i must translate some terms when writing english)
IIRC the name means green earth, but not shure
thanks alot for chiming in guys ! |

hey Guys and Gals,
I've often thought about this too, but I've never really dug into it. I'm wondering if shorting the timing cap for the first stage of the filter might have some effect. And by "shorting" I actually mean using a low value resistor and an FET or analog switch across the cap. This is something that could be done manually as a test, so it might be worth trying.

| Or short all the timing caps even .. I'd be worried about plops, but indeed testing would be easy and it would be a well defined "zero state". |
