SoundLab SLMS patched out wiring diagrams? |

Hi All,
I'm about to embark on an SLMS, and effectively want to build a synth with the same spec as this one of the MFOS site:
http://musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/SOUNDLABMINISYNTH/images/faceplates/Damions_panel.gif
I have bought the Feb 08 PCB and am trying to get my head around what parts to buy and how to wire it correctly. I am new to all this, but have built a small electronics kit and am comfortable with soldering and I think if I work slowly and plan properly, there should be no reason it shouldn't work.
My problem is there is only basic information online for making the patched-out SLMS - Ray has put the suggested schematics on his site but I've been unable to find any suggested wiring diagrams for a patched out synth and don't want to make any assumptions. Frankly, I'm not sure that to do. I would love it if this was available but I'm damned if I can find it.
Is anyone here aware of pre-existing wiring diagrams, parts lists, and/or notes for a Patched-out SLMS with a similar spec to the one above? I'm finding the amount of revisions and scattered notes on the MFOS site and this forum a bit of a mindblower...there's lots of info for sure but it's not always clear whether you're looking at the definitive word on the subject and I'd really like to collate all the relevant info into a few documents I can use as reference when actually building the machine.
Any thoughts?!
Much appreciated! |

Hi,
I don't think a patched out wiring diagram of the SLMS exists, as It is not really necessary. Patching it out shouldn't be too difficult, assuming that you can read schematics.
Effectively, what you are doing is simply replacing most of the switches for jacks. So, for example, take the VCF Control Voltage jacks. Here you are simply replacing S7 and S8 for jacks, so solder two wires from the board points; S7 - 1 and S8 -1 and simply solder them to two separate jacks. And repeat this for the other points on the board.
You can use banana jacks or phone jacks. Remember to ground the ground lead of the jacks to the ground of the unit.
Hope that helps.
Regards. |
