I'm building the 12V wallwart that came with the Soundlab Ultimate. I'm in the UK (240V) and wondered which transformer I need to buy out of the hundreds listed here..

Hey , howsit going ?

For the WALLWART power pcb you need a 12V ac 1A (1000mA) power pack , down Dalry road and into Maplin. Like what youd use for a guitar stompbox pedal but make sure the output is 12V AC , 2 wire +/- . It has to be an AC 12V output because ray's pcb rectifies the incoming AC into DC. If you find one that is un-regulated, that's the one you want as the Wallwart pcb rectifies and regulates the voltage.

For Ray's adjustable 1.5A pcb you need a chassis or toroidal transformer ( the type you have to safely connect the mains to & house it in a suitable box)

Good luck with the Technically inept kids at Maplins checkout.

Or try Rapid ... here's an ideal one...AC/AC UNREG PLUGTOP PSU 12V AC 1AMP RC 85-2923
£6.17 .......if you type in the order code it should take you to the page

Have fun .
Dave.

I think I'll go for that 1A Rapid Electronics wart, seems like good value. Maplin want £12 for the same thing.

Incidentally, I live about 3 minutes away from the Maplin you mention! Next time you plan to be in that neck of the woods, drop me a PM, we could go for a coffee and plenty synth blether.
