Such an incentive suggests that the SC market might welcome new and exciting consumer products. What about fragmentation mines, cluster bombs and remotely activated thermobaric devices? I´m sure there must be a fair number of adventurous South Carolina home owners who want to get into the business of area denial and perimeter control? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

BTW, why do they they need a tax cut on guns in SC? Perhaps they tax the victims of gun shot wounds instead? More income that way? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
James L. Petigru (1789-1863), a staunch South Carolina unionist, reportedly responded to the Palmetto State's (secession) actions by saying that his state was too small for a country and too large for an insane asylum.

Given the present day context the second part of the assertion is clearly incorrect. _________________ The question is not whether they can talk or reason, but whether they can suffer. -- Jeremy Bentham

Yep. The whole damn US is an insane asylum. This is why my next album will be titled Lovely Madhouse. (I ain't kidding, please don't steal my title!)
Guns are stupid, generally speaking. Especially now, when, if you need something for self-defense, we have the technology to create non-lethal phasers of the Star Trek variety. Tasers? Bitch, please. Seriously. I'll bet you anything The Establishment already has phasers in a secret testing facility somewhere.

Basically I have trouble feeling awe towards a behavior that is so clearly genetically linked to our evolution and exactly the same in form if not style as that of chimpanzees. War is the ultimate carbuncle on the ass of humanity. It's simply painful, depressing and humiliating and humiliation is not particularly awe inspiring to me. _________________ The question is not whether they can talk or reason, but whether they can suffer. -- Jeremy Bentham
But diplomacy is just an optimistic daydream. There is no other logical way to bring freedom to a nation. Lots of civilians die, but in the end the future generations at least have a better mathematical chance at a decent civilization. Look at Afghanistan... anyone who has studied this country knows about the widespread abuse of women and children on the country's national level. The sexual abuse of young boys in Afghanistan is universal and absolutely horrific, even being perpetrated by entire police forces. Ask a victim of the abuse in Afghanistan and they will likely agree it is worth the strife to bring about change, however terrible. When the love of the heart and the strength of the will work in unison, alot of the times lives must be lost to lay the foundation of law. Human blood seems to be the only fertilizer that can nourish a great civilization, as out of the spectrum of moral thought it seems to be.

Oh, by all means one should feel free to spill one's own blood and anyone can aford a razorblade with which to do it--so no problemo. What seems is so easy to believe with out imagination. It's seems so right to be another drop of puss in the munkey's carbuncle that it's no wonder so many people choose that way to humiliate themselves and their species.
AT A CAVALRY NEAR THE ANCRE
One ever hangs where shelled roads part.
In this war He too lost a limb,
But His disciples hide apart;
And now the Soldiers bear with Him.
Near Golgotha strolls many a priest,
And in their faces there is pride
That they were flesh-marked by the Beast
By whom the gentle Christ's denied.
The scribes on all the people shove
And bawl allegiance to the state,
But they who love the greater love
Lay down their life; they do not hate.

What has anything I said to do with suicide? I respect pacifism, but all ying and no yang is not my cup of tea. I don't expect everyone to fly the skull and crossbones bones like me, but do know that it is factual that the only way to resolve many of the world's major problems is with military intervention. I could only agree that avoiding civilian casualties should definitely be a higher priority of modern military... for example, bombings... I agree wholeheartedly that bombing in or near any residential area is most often pure mass murder. Last edited by destroyifyer on Thu Dec 03, 2009 4:55 pm; edited 1 time in total

Wow. All this pontificating over a tax-free gun day.
It's a curious concept, but doesn't bother me... or give much of an incentive to buy a new gun.
I'd save what, $24 on a $400 dollar purchase? _________________ www.sdiy.org/rfeng

Does it not follow directly from the structure of your assertion that it should amenable to logic--to proof of its validity? I invite you to produce the logical argument that will raise it from mere supposition and belief to fact--to factuality.
I suspect that what you have is not factual, not a fact, but something you really hold as a profound truth. And ...
"The opposite of a fact is falsehood, but the opposite of one profound truth may very well be another profound truth."

Freedom is an illusion. If you think you have it, it is usually because you stole it from someone else.
I have little insight into what goes on in Afghanistan, but I suspect it has little to do with afghani freedom, except as a possible beneficial side-effect.
