Building the Thomas Henry MPS |

Hi,
(first, collecting parts...)
three LM13700 are required for IC1-3.
NJM#13700D can be a good cheap substitute ?
it says DIP-16, @mouser. |

It looks like Futurlec has plenty of prototype boards you could use for the MPS ........
I know that Uncle Krunkus uses the strip board method quite a bit and I prefer wire wrap and component headers but both techniques should serve you well.
Here is the link to the boards that Futurlec sells:

I think I'd use a stripboard, I hope that a 100x75mm is big enough, considering that I already have built the case that will host 2x MPS and 2x Midi to CV circuits. 100x100 cm could be okay but bigger than that could be a problem for the space I 've got inside the case... to be honest I'm still hoping one day the MPS PCBs will be available, so that building it will be much easier
funkyfarm, I tried to follow your link | Quote: | | http://electro-music.com/catalog/forums.html/cPath/54 |
but it brings to an error page
state machine, thanks for the link, that kind of protoboard could be very useful! I know futurlec also have to sell the xr2206 ! _________________ http://soundcloud.com/mister-vommi

Yes, the strip boards come out very nice. Nothing is critical in the layout of the MPS so doing it this way should be no problem other than more work for you, especially two MPS stripboards
It seems from my perspective, I would not hold my breath for boards. The project really went public on Scott's site so anyone can build it or even try their hand at making their own PC board. So, it's open source except for profit of course. No plans seem to exist from my point of view. I don't want to sound negative though so maybe there is a chance for manufactured PC boards and there is a master plan in the works behind the scenes

Well yes Dan, maybe from an availability perspective. Scott and Thomas' write ups on Scott's website are quite good and if one were really ambitious, you could do what Tommy is doing and stripboard or protoboard it. Maybe even put two instances of the MPS on the same project board. Perhaps that would even be more rewarding than slapping components into a ready made PC board to which there really is no challenge there, just speed. Hope all is well there Danno

We are trying to do a run of PCBs right now, it just depends on the order being done, and Mosc being in a position to distribute them. When (not if) it goes ahead as far as I know there will be at least 200 ordered.
I'll point the people with the power at this post right now.

200! Good lawrd! Mmmm. Just thought - I'll wait to see what the price will be but if it turns out to be lower, I'll increase to 3 or 4 of them.
(Rem'ber - my frame of mind as far as drums go is tied up in the world of Neil Peart; Terry Bozzio; etc. ) |

So, if I got it, there WILL BE a run of PCBs. Well, if I haven't misunderstood what Uncle Krunkus said, that's a very good news!
In this case, my order would be at least two of them !

Cool case Tommi ! The handle strap adds a nice touch ! Which power supply are you using? I see the transformer mounted on the side panel.

I am using the MFOS wall wart supply: |
Nice, OK, I see. Thats a slick little board. Major filtering if you need it and scalable to. Nice price. Good for things like transient currents and such with all that capacitance behind you. Good choice for hte MPS. You are using the split 15 V configuration I presume for the MPS?

At least 4 for me also .... In light of what Mr. Krunkus says, I should just wait then ......... oh this duality kills me, vector board it, wait for PCB's
