I spent about 8 hours in Reason 2.5 July 3rd and 4th playing around and this song turned out to be serious. It's not complete, but I just want to know what you all think about it because this is my first online music post ever.

welcome markentingh

Glad to have you here.

Sounds very dramatic at the start. Very powerful sounding...

Hi there

I've had a good few listens to your track and it's good, very dramatic and atmospheric as the others have indicated. It actually sounds strongly reminiscent of something I heard: either a Portishead tune or a tune of the Massive Attack album "Protection". I wonder if you had been listening to either recently? That sort of thing happens to me all the time...

Anyway, yeah it's good. I like the drum sounds, particularly the sort of pitch-bending kicks. Strings are really good. A couple of suggestions if you don't mind, with the obvious caveat that they are just issues of taste for me.

The bell-like arpeggio which pervades the track never varies. I would be tempted to manipulate it subtly so that it kind of fades in and out of the listener's attention a little more. This would be really simple, just long-term modulation of the cutoff, or phasing would do the trick nicely. I would also add some nice reverb to that sound and probably modulate the level of reverb over time too. I would also be tempted to chuck a bit of delay on the drums, and all that other good stuff that Mosc hates.

But overall yeah, this is really cool. Good work mate.

Cheers

Dovder

That's good though. I liked the song, I think it needs to be longer though. Wink

well. I've heard of portishead, but I don't listen to them. I guess I could put a more recent version of the track up on the web. I've been working hard on other things for a few clients, so I haven't had time to update any of my own creations lately. I do have a new track tho, and I think you all will like it very much. I will post it very soon, because I plan to complete it.
