The Ultimate Mellotron Recordings List
This is an insanely entertaining site
Hmm.. well.. only if you find the idea of a site listing EVERYTHING Mellotron out there entertaining.. well.. of course you do!
This guy means business.. he even goes for the bootlegs too:
| Quote: | | f course, by no means all recordings of the mighty 'Tron are officially available. The bootleg market holds several delights for the Mellotron aficionado, although King Crimson seem to be doing their level best to release almost every live recording of the band ever made... |

BTW: Here is a link to the Sound On Sound magazine review of the NEW Mellotron which is in production now.
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/Aug02/articles/mellotron.asp
The reviewer notes that the keyboard action is great on this new one.
| Quote: | | In particular, I found the fast keyboard action a delight. Far from the spongy, resistive action that insists that you play block chords on most Mellotrons, this was capable of rapid solos and accompaniments. As already noted, my own machine was overhauled by Streetly Electronics immediately before this review, and was also a joy to play, being fast and responsive. But the MkVI was a tad better. Mind you, it would be interesting to compare the two when they are both 21 years old. I suspect that, once the MkVI has bedded in, the difference between it and my Model 400 will be of no significance whatsoever. |
I haven´t tried the new one, but it is a fact that very few Mellotrons were quick and easy to play, Most had.. or got after some use.. that legendary spongy feel. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Yeah .. hmm.. that does not quite "cover" it.. hehe
I was used to a pretty responsive m400 keyboard.. but man did it go spongy after some heavy use. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
