Tech what? |

I was trying an M-Audio Firewire 410 audio interface without success. I had seen an Apple update regarding Firewire Audio ( http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-2093.html ) so, few days ago, I asked M-Audio tech support if they thought I needed it. They answered that I may need the new FireWire update from Apple and to let them know if that fixed the issue. So I did install it but it did not solve any problem I told them.
Yesterday I was checking their web site and saw this new post:
| Quote: | No "BeBoB" driver support
Q: I saw that there is a driver update available on Apple's web site for FireWire audio devices based on BridgeCo technology. My M-Audio FireWire device says BridgeCo on the back. Will the "BeBoB" driver from Apple's web site work for me?
A: No, M-Audio FireWire devices do not support the standardized BridgeCo "BeBoB" driver. You need to install the current M-Audio driver for your FW410 or FW Audiophile. |
I am asking myself: who is supporting who Shouldn't they try things out and then let customers know what they think about it _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

I am pleased with the M-Audio products... but the support sucks. The only people you can get in contact with are ..well.. those in need of support.. themselves. Another issue is that M-Audio has not quite understood the need for proper documentation of their products.. old or new. If I for some reason would buy a second-hand M-Audio product, then I should be able to find extensive information regarding this product on their website. My argument is: if they are not able to document old products.. how can one expect them to properly document new products? Like.. I can still get hold of the complete documentation for the old Apple Imagewriter. No problem.
Hmm.. Bush was wrong... it
was not Saddam.. it was in fact M-Audio? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

When I first got my 410 it was not working properly with half my software...tech support told me to redirect my questions to the software companies, but it turns out the driver was screwing everything up. (I downloaded an update driver that was .1 different in version number and it magically fixed everything). The most unpleasant experience I've had with the 410 is that the first headphone output broke. No sound. Tech support told me to mail it in, but that would leave me without an audio card. Besides, I have a headphone amp with 4 channels anyway....still irks me that it broke though. |
