I've just seen the new Tarrantino/Rodriguez double feature- Grindhouse.

The first half- Planet Terror is a blood-squirtin zombiefest in the typical Rodriguez fashion.

The analogue sound FX are great and blend in well with the typical 70's cheesy horror flick story line (at least they sound analogue to me, but who knows how they were really made). There's barely a minute that goes by that you don't hear a reso filter sweep or some other analogue gurgle.

The second-half of the double feature was nowhere near as action packed, and completely lacked any obvious analogue content.

There have been implications (posted from another list) that indicate the sounds were done with a laptop. I'm interested in knowing how they were created, and it's quite possible they were easily done with a computer, given all of the soft synths available these days.

Guess you're not talking about "Assault", I just happened to be browsing an article about laptops from 1984, and they looked like this

Anyway, John Carpenter rules for movie soundtracks.
