greetings and a happy new year folks...
Does anyone know what kind of software EFTERKLANG & MUM use?
MUM-"finally we are no one" sounds to me very Reason-ish,
but the EFTERKLANG -"Tripper/Springer"-sound is totally unique.
Does anyone know how to get that special sound . . ?

T.K.K Question

Apparently there is a MUM from Iceland and another one that's not. Judging http://www.myspace.com/efterklang my guess is that the Icelandic MUM is meant, but I've not found that one yet. Efterklang's foetus has a nice intro, as a lot of foetuses had I guess. A bit like soft-radiohead, but it's original I think, which is good.

If you don't know by now, this is NOT the same group as the ones from Iceland. This Vienna based group plays trippy funk/dance music that isn't very good. It has it's moments, but not really worth the purchase; for me anyway. Also, the fact that I got caught thinking this was the Icelandic group really rattled me too. I see that the advertising for this disc was recently altered so the two groups are now seperated. A lot of good that did for me when I bought it though. Now you know.

Still I'd like to hear that Icelandic MUM one day.

Been a while since I checked this forum...

Mum and Efterklang are awesome yes.
If you're looking for Mum from Iceland, go here
http://www.myspace.com/mumtheband

I dont know really how they make it, but I know about some woman from the UK who has really unique sounds, and I think she works together with Mum. Thanks to myspace I found her here http://www.myspace.com/mileece

i love múm! and i am also really interested in finding out about their techniques for getting their beautifully creepy-ish, antique-scifi sound. reminds me of the movie "city of lost children". i have been trying also to reproduce the tragic junkyard music sound that the sadder half of tom waits' songs have, but it's been difficult to get that feel with electronic stuff.

any advice on getting a múm/tom waits/coco rosie, across-the-decades, family-secret, victorian-submarine type sounds?

Mileece uses SuperCollider, probably in conjunction with other stuff but I know she uses sc. SC is capable of unique sounds indeed.
