Hmm.. what they have done here seems to be "making a story" about Clark. It seems like they think they have made a seriously good story. I guess the next thing they will announce is that Clark have had sex with a woman ..at least once. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Where's the Kerry "Mr. Kerry, did you kill any people ...in Vietnam?" inquest? Civilians really do not react well when exposed to the realities of warfare. For some it is a skin allergy, some have respiratory problems. Especially those vast pools of civilians who still believe that war is like what they see in the movies. You're not soon going to see The Real World: Baghdad; or some reality show set in the West Bank.
Regardless of whether or not there is merit to what the media is getting at here, this really smacks of dragging his history through the public mud for no other reason than to discredit politically. And by that, I mean the people asking these questions probably do not at all care about the issue, only it's value with the vox populi. That shit is like intellectual mace on the minds of the public.
We are virgins at the intercourse of violence.

Yes, it seems to me that they mainly saw this as a way to shit in his face. They did not show much interest in taking this elsewhere.. discussing policies and conflicts and solutions. Attacking him that way is just stupid. he might be a nice guy, or not.. I have no idea. But this "report" was senseless.
One does not fight war and violent conflict by shooting the damned soldier. I pretty much lost all respect for the "democracy now" crew. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

| You know, if they are trying to discredit Clark, it has backfired for me. I have more respect for him after hearing this interview than before. How many people would put up with those questions so forthrightly. |

Yeah.. sure Howard..you are right.. I am pretty sure what they attempted was to discredit Clark. This was an attempted "kill".
I reckon they will try again.. and then start to "document" a scandal or whatever. "Democracy Now" sounds very warm and cosy.. but who are these people? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

My instincts tell me that he is the realest and certainly most experienced leader being offered this election. Bush isn't a threat to your Kerry and Dean, Clark is. Like piranahs, they may be family, but they are out to wound him, so that he will be devoured by his own. It reminds me of the principle behind playing "The Weakest Link." You don't vote out the weak ones, leaving the strongest players in place to defeat you later. No, you vote off the best players to increase your incompetency's changes of success. That is what's happening here. Where was DemocNow's praise for his role in achieving air superiority and winning the war with zero US casualties? No no, that doesn't matter.
The reality seems to be that, unfortunately, Clark is not our appointed leader, so he will not win. That's a given. But that doesn't stop me from hoping. And trying. And standing for what I believe to be the correct answer. Remember kids, this is the resident conservative Republican, albeit a highly liberalesque rendering of one, talking.

I wonder if at www.despair.com they really sell all that merchandising.
Would you buy it for yourselves or as a gift for someone else
I wouldn't _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

They do sell the merchandise, the posters and mugs and such. However, they do have the occasional humor-only product, such as the Frownie...
http://despair.com/frownies.html
"They said it couldn't be done, but we did it- we trademarked an emoticon and banned the use of it in email.
But the international outcry of rage and sorrow was too much even Despair to handle. Hundreds of emails from countries all around the globe have poured in, begging us to reconsider our controversial decision. Even a member of the perpetually cheerful citizenry of America's happiest metropolis, New York, took time to register a dignified complaint through our voicemail. Behind each outcry in every tongue, the same sentiment. An impassioned entreaty to us, that we reconsider our plans to ban the beloved symbol from the Internet.
And to our own shock, we did reconsider. And realized that we had made an enormous mistake in removing this sacred symbol of sorrow from legal Internet circulation.
In an unprecedented reversal of policy, Despair Inc. has announced that it will manufacture and sell legally-approved Frownies to the buying public who desire to continue using them in email.
In our own in-house manufacturing facility, Despair has lovingly hand-crafted three unique models of Frowny(tm) to express a variety of dolorous feelings. And incredibly, each one is compatible with all email clients!
If brevity be the soul of wit, then there's no more clever way to say "I'm miserable" than with a legally-authorized Frowny from Despair Inc!
Accept no substitutes!"
Enjoy

I found this one at Democracy Now:
http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=03/09/24/1730205
Scholar Norman Finkelstein Calls Professor Alan Dershowitz's New Book On Israel a "Hoax"
and on it goes.. and Noam Chomsky is drawn into this all the time..
This is one hilarious piece. And scary..
| Quote: | On MSNBC’s Scarborough Country on Sept. 8 2003, renowned appellate lawyer, Harvard Law professor and author Alan Dershowitz says: “I will give $10,000 to the PLO…if you can find a historical fact in my book that you can prove to be false.” The book Dershowitz refers to is his latest work The Case For Israel.
Today author and professor Norman Finkelstein takes him on and charges that Dershowitz makes numerous factual errors in his book. Dershowitz denies the charges. Finkelstein teaches at DePaul University and is the author of four books including The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering. [Includes transcript] |

Chomsky was pulled into this situation once when a piece he wrote on freedom of speech was used as the introduction to a bookwherein the facts concerning the Holocaust are questioned. It was not writen for the book or in any way related to the book, only used as it's intro after being told to "do whatever you like" with it. The premise of his stance on the controversy concerning the book and it's claims is basicly that they guy had a right to say what he wanted, and that you are not for free speech of you are not for the right of people to speak freely of things you do not agree with.
"Hitler was for the freedom of speech that he agreed with."
According to Noam, to enter into the arena of debate concerning whether or not the Holocaust actually happened is to lose one's own humanity.

Yeah. You remember that guy 10 years ago or so.. in the early days of the web who had this gopher site where he had shitloads of his pamphlets about the "nonexistent" nazi death camps? I seem to remember that one of his points was that some of the german nazi were gay, and this would of course mean that gays were not persecuted or killed. He had some similar ideas regarding jews, which he used to build his case. I am not quite sure what his case was, but it did imply that there were no nazi deathcamps at all. What is this crazy fascination with nazi germany about? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Well, clearly it would have been best had they never existed, but you can vote all day long about it and that doesnt change the facts.
